Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Taonga Tuturu Ki Tokomaru is located in the heart of Tokemaru Bay township. The kura started a medicinal garden, growing native species on their grounds.

Tairawhiti Ngutukākā was approached to contribute ngutukākā to the medicinal garden, and our volunteers have helped not only with planting the seedlings, but also helping maintain the medicinal garden. Our volunteers have lent their knowledge of native species and their medicinal purposes to the tamariki to help them build and maintain their garden.

The ngutukākā will help protect the garden, providing  weed management and protect more vulnerable plants against the strong winds that can come off of Tokomaru Bay.
